I'm the only person who's punk in school, so I wanted to have highlights. But there's two problems, one I don't have good hair cuz it's curly and brown. I wanted to be black. plus I have dandruff. and second my parents won't let me!

this is what you do, tell them your going to dye it all green (and you need to be a good actress to do this) and come home with green dyed hair (use a wig if you have to, but it MUST look real)

then be totaly serious. tell them if they don't let you get highlights your going to dye your hair green, and let them choose which one they would rather have.

Just respect your parent's wishes. My parents were old fashioned too and didn't like unnatural hair colors. It's not bad to dye your hair pink of course but some parents are old fashioned and they think that it gives kids a bad image.

A couple ideas:

1. Tell them you want to use temporary dye. They're more likely to let you if they think it's going to wash out, then once they're used to it, they might not mind you keeping it. My mom was shocked the first time she saw my hair dyed, but when I told her it was temporary, she calmed down and looked at it a bit and said actually it looked kindof nice.

2. Don't do it at home. Hair dye can seriously mess up the bathroom, especially if you don't know what you're doing. Especially pink. You don't want to get banned from ever dying your hair again because the bathroom counter has pink spots that won't come out, do you?

3. Remind your parents that if a person is going to do wild and crazy things with their hair, teen years are the time to do it because you don't have to worry about being all professional looking. Your teachers aren't going to hold your pink hair against you when grading you, but depending on your career, a boss might hold it against you when deciding whether to hire/promote/give a pay raise.

ask them if you can dye it temporarily. you can use kool aid (mix sugarless powder with conditioner until it makes a paste, put in streaks and cover with tin foil, leave in for 6-12 hours, the longer the better) i did this with blue and it lasted about a month!!

you might not want to dye your hair black. it is the harderst color to make fade and most of the time, it looks unnaturally bluish (unless thats what youre into). but you might want to put alot of thought into it before you go doing this drastic change. for example, you would have to redo your roots every 2 weeks or so, which could be expensive and annoying.
