I've asked an emo hair question. People jumped to conclusions I was emo... If I were, what'

Personally. I think people that are "emo", are just going through a certain phase of their lives. It's comparable to punk, hip hop, b-boy, scene, and skater trends. Sadly. People suddenly attach such stereotypes as "cutting yourself" or being depressed. It seems to me, that every label or trend has it's aspects that can be heavily criticized, but the derision of emo has been greatly accentuated. Personally, I choose to be more open minded. For example. I am not a huge fan of most hip hop or rap, that's a trend that's been overused time and time again, but who am I to direct any ridicule? I'd rather be more eclectic, I attain my style from many different trends. From; what people would call, prep, all the way to rock. Writing someone off because they have emo hair is a little brash don't you think? And if they were emo, who are we to judge their personality? .. think about it.

I've asked an emo hair question. People jumped to conclusions I was emo... If I were, what's the deal?

I agree. Its so annoying how fast people can jump to conclusions, especially about young people. Whenever I suggest I or my friend is an emo (we listen to that kind of music and where the clothes) they start getting jumpy and offended, and ask me if I've started cutting myself. Emo is simply a lifestyle. Just like all the other 'labels'. Depression and self-harming somehow became asscoiated, turning it into a bad thing in the minds of some.

U R right. Everyone I know associates emos with suicide and self-destructing and cutting. It's just weird! I think emo hair is perfectly fine, and people shouldn't judge a book by a cover. I agree totally!

I've asked an emo hair question. People jumped to conclusions I was emo... If I were, what's the deal?

why were you asking about emo hair?

and it's not a big deal

every teenager ends up looking the same somehow

whatever it be preps, jocks, emo, scene, gangster

emo has got a negative wrap on it because..

they are somewhat negative people?

plus, emo was a music genre way before anything else

and even then it still sucked hah

the thing is today deffinition of emo isnt what it should be.

it used to be just those normal average kids who didnt quite fit iinto the prep category, or the nerd or anyother sterotype.. the kind of kid who is just a kid.

but by todays standard its not that at all..

i have no problem with emos but... some the more sterotypical ones piss me off.

they hate all preps. they "cut" themselves. like that should be trend... and there music is really bad... and then they start to use emo as a adjective... ahh.

i know not all of them are like that... but the ones that are and i have met quite a few are really annoying.

and if youve ever talked to one of the really sterotypica;l ones they bash every other sterotype just the same

and i probably sound really bad...

but i used to be really self harming.. it justy annoys me how these little kids think its cool.

i probably have got this one mindset stuck in my head, well before this turns into anymore of a rant...im going to stop

You,re Right!

Emos Should Be Treated As Human Beings.

People Should Not be Judged On Their Looks But Should be Judged On The Person They Are.

high five! At least I know some people on Yahoo! Answers think about things like these. Sometimes people are bashing emo's for no reason whatsoever.
