my son has thick, wavy, shoulder length hair and wants liberty spikes. i bought some really good hair glue from the beauty supply store but it just isn't looking right. i tried to section it off and create the spikes which end up being about 6-8 inches long but the base of the spikes just don't look right. any suggestions on how to get that perfect punk liberty spike look (NOT A MOHAWK.... I'm not letting him shave his beautiful locks)

Maybe get bigger sections of hair and gel them? That should fix it...I'm not quite sure though, I've never done my hair like that before. :P

true liberty spikes are made with egg whites mixed with a little water. it dries more solid than any store bought product.

Knox gelatin. You know, in the bakery aisle at the supermarket? Just mix it with a little water till it is gooey and put it on.

Ha, I know how to do this. Instead of just pulling up the hair, twist it while your making the spikes. That should do it!
Ha, OK, when I did it a few years back my hair was shorter so it worked.
It will be really hard to look good since, in my opinion it would look weird as a strip of hair the same width a foot in the air.
Try SpecialEffects Molding Wax. Glue doesn't work that great...if it is more liquidy than solid, NO.
This is an excellent product and is only like $4.00 at Wal-mart or CVS.
If you can't figure anything out, just cut his hair to maybe 1.5-2 inches.
Got2beGlued is too liquidy to work on long hair, it kind of turns downward a few minutes after the appication.

LOL This is going to sound crazy but..white Elmer's glue!! I used to help my teenage daughter with hers years ago. It is washable and dries clear. It does take a few shampoos to get it out. Take each section and put plenty of glue on it then use the blow dryer while holding it up by the end of the strand. You may have to touch up a few strands after you are done. It holds up really well.. My daughter is 20 yrs old now and we did this 5-6 years ago. I didn't know the kids were still doing this. I always told her she looked like Lisa Simpson. It became our "in joke" Hey the way I see it...its only hair and its temporary. She is a great young lady..Good Luck!!
