I need help with getting a good hair cut.?

I want to cut my hair, short. not too short, but around my ears. i want it to look a little 'punk' as some people would say. i'm not gothic, though. i was thinking of possibly coloring it just a little bit, but my mom won't approve of anything 'too radical'. i was thinking kind of a spikey / messy look, with light highlights, maybe. any helpful hints? [[so my mom will let me]]

If you can't find the look you want in a magazine picture, look around @ the haircuts of friends or strangers. Don't be afraid to approach someone and compliment their hair %26amp; ask where they got it done. That is... if you're not happy w/ your stylist. If you DO like your stylist, then try to be as detailed as possible in telling him/her what you want. They'll probably be happy to try something a little different on you. It depends on whether or not they're artistic. Best wishes!

I have long, brown, very curly hair. I bleached the ends of my hair, so now they are dead and I'm going to get it cut. It will probably be around shoulder length or somewhat shorter. I would think an angled hairstyle would be great except for the fact you have curly hair.People with curly hair usually have straight bangs when they are side swept which is at an angle and it would look cool if you had a point like think to the tip of your bangs. When you bleach it, the hair will thin out, making it /easier/ for you to style.

alls u gotta do is put the glue in, spike it up n blowdry it for a sec till its dry. if u want a really hard hold just go over it with a falt iron and viola liberty spikes!

I have light brown/dirty blonde hair (it's darkened from blonde to brown...) and I'm not sure whether to get highlights or a complete color change. Personally. I think people that are "emo", are just going through a certain phase of their lives. It's comparable to punk, hip hop, b-boy, scene, and skater trends. Sadly. People suddenly attach such stereotypes as "cutting yourself" or being depressed. It seems to me, that every label or trend has it's aspects that can be heavily criticized, but the derision of emo has been greatly accentuated. Personally, I choose to be more open minded. For example. I am not a huge fan of most hip hop or rap, that's a trend that's been overused time and time again, but who am I to direct any ridicule? I'd rather be more eclectic, I attain my style from many different trends. From; what people would call, prep, all the way to rock. Writing someone off because they have emo hair is a little brash don't you think? And if they were emo, who are we to judge their personality? .. think about it.

I agree. Its so annoying how fast people can jump to conclusions, especially about young people. Whenever I suggest I or my friend is an emo (we listen to that kind of music and where the clothes) they start getting jumpy and offended, and ask me if I've started cutting myself. Emo is simply a lifestyle. Just like all the other 'labels'. Depression and self-harming somehow became asscoiated, turning it into a bad thing in the minds of some.

the thing is today deffinition of emo isnt what it should be.

it used to be just those normal average kids who didnt quite fit iinto the prep category, or the nerd or anyother sterotype.. the kind of kid who is just a kid.

Take the pic to a stylist and for aftercare, you need a texturizing product. Got2B makes some great stuff. It's called Texturizing creme pomade. Or their spiking glue. Just use a very small amount when applying and chunk your hair. Hope this helps!

First, clean out your closet. Throw out the stuff you've outgrown or you dislike. Sell them so you can have space and money for your new ones. In the meantime keep those basics like your plain polo shirts, tank tops, long sleeved shirts, white tees, which you can use for layering.

When you shop, don't go looking at the rack where you usually buy your stuff but it wouldn't hurt to grab basics once in a while. Check out stores you haven't bothered to visit before. I like browsing at thrift shops for those one-of-a-kind pieces like shirts and vintage dresses, dress stores and jewelry stores for layering or matching with your basics. Stock up on accessories! I like bangles, long necklaces, pearl and hoop earrings and large belts. How about ballet flats? They're not as painful as heels and not too casual as sneakers which you can pair with dresses, leggings, shorts, jeans and just about anything. Layering stretches your wardrobe and it is ideal for cold weather. Just mix and match, keep an open mind for trends, have fun with your outfits and be confident in what you wear!

If you like legwarmer,skirts, and summery colors you could try this:

Wear a long light skirt, put boots on underneath, find a sweet, unique shirt at a thrift store and wear a long scarf on top. This style has actually passed, but it doesn't mean you can't wear it.

Pay attention to the fact that being petite means keeping things in proportion, big prints (usually not good); long shirts (well--maybe might work--but the correct length is important so that you don't look stunted and even shorter)-- that's about it---being petite is a PLUS-- have fun!

For a real classic punk look, I always thought the best look was really bleachy (fake) looking blonde with black streaks. Back in the day, bleach blonde, black or a combo of both were the original punk hallmarks. When punk started going mainstream, that's when you started seeing bright colors. The good thing about black and blonde is that it keeps it's punk look growing out as the dark roots blend in with the black streaks. This look takes a real commitment though, as once you've done it, it's hard to undo if you hate it.

How to do 14 year old guys hair?

im 14, i have short hair. in the front (bangs) are like 1.5-2 inches.

my hair stylist cut it so its a little shorter on the sides (about .5 inches) and its a tiny bit longer in the front than in the back on top (its hardly noticable).

usually i use mousse (correct spelling?) and try to spike it up just in front a little, but then it always ending up leaning to the right a little bit so it goes up then over a little.

what should i use and/or do to just get a simple, cool-looking spiky-thing going. but not too much like a punk or something. just enough to be cool.

It is really cute, and has a TON of potential. You can shift the part over s little more to the left for more of a dramatic look. Also, wet your hair in the morning and use some mousse to srunch it. Spray hairspray for more dramatic and so your waves actually look really cute. Also, before you straighten it, try spraying volumizing spray for better hold and more volume. Hope I helped

If you have a heart shape face you need to look for a haircut that adds width at the jawline. This can be achieved through a rounded style-- getting a couple of layers and curling them slightly inward! Reese Witherspoon is an ideal person to look at, because she has a heart shaped face as well.

My hair turned a "dirty blonde" color when I hit my teens. I always lightened it. (because it really IS a non-descript color). Now I'm fighting the gray as well, so I do medium golden blond with light blonde highlights.

If I were a teen now, I would probably do black with red highlights. If you don't want to dye all your hair, you should lighten your bangs as light as you can - white if possible. I wouldn't do red or black against the dirty blonde.

white/platinum blond can be super preppy or punky depending on how you do it. I also like platinum on the top layers, and black on bottom - i did this for my friend with home kits and it turned out GREAT. looks soooo frickin cool when you do braids or ponytails, and you like never have to touch up the black.

Just some advice: Bleach your hair with 30 vol. bleach (otherwise the pink won't show up). Once you bleach it, your hair should be a pale blonde. Then use Special Effects Atomic Pink if you want the dye to last a long time. If you want it to last a short time (a few days) use Manic Panic. If you want it to be somewhere in between, use Special Effects Cupcake Pink.

My friends and I are having a Battle of the Bands -- my own buddies and I fall into the genres of glam rock and punk.

Since this will be our first show {and we're not rich enough to actually hire real assistants...}, we've never really fooled around with our style.

So, a few questions.

a. Can regular cosmetics {eye shadow and so forth} be applied to the regular skin, like cheeks or forehead?

a) yes, you can use eyeshadow as a blush, but i don't recommend putting it on your lips(it looks cakey). the most versatile makeup product i would recommend is blush (eyes, cheeks, and lips) lipstick works well too.

b) i would try a roll on glitter stick, you can buy it at claires.

c) glue is alot stronger, used for things like mohawks, gel is lighter, used to shape things and gives a wet look.

d) i think you should do a Marilyn Monroe type hairstyle and then glammed up glittery makeup.

I have hair that is about to the middle of my ear (about 2-3 inches long) and is buzzed in back to about even with top of ears. I buzzed the back of it last night in the beginning it looked great until after I washed it and now I don't know what to do. Hair History--my hair was in a mohawk and then its been growing out for a few months and then started to look like a mullet so I buzzed it and now here we are. I used to have a similar hair cut, but what I ended up doing is getting the back cut even just a bit shorter, and then I was able to spike just the back of my hair. I would leave my bangs down, but the back of my head would be entirely spikes. My friends loved it, and it was very easy to do as long as I used gel to spike it while my hair was still wet, then dried it with a hair dryer. Couldn't have taken more then 10 minutes, and it looked great. If you wanted to dye it, you could always dye the tips of your hair some neon color, like green or purple (all my hair is currently purple!). Just dyeing the tips would look fantastic with the spikes.

Can you see roots yet? If you can see the difference between your roots and dye job then the streaks will also look different between the two.

It would probaly be very dramatic on your natural hair and more subtle on the black portion due to the fact it would take the color longer to develop on the black hair.

Try it, you'll never know unless you try. Just don't go for something really drastic. I would keep it in the dark family of colors, like an eggplant or something.

Since black hair dye contains so much dark pigment you will have to use bleach to bring the color up again. If you want just richer brown streaks in your black hair which would look like mahogany wood then I suggest a highlift ash haircolor. That would curb the brassy ness and give you an interesting color.

All that is is a little back combing and some hairspray.

It's a very basic layered cut. Definitely print the picture and take it to the hairdresser with you. I think the picture of her holding the teddy bear gives the best idea of the type of cut you want - I'd print that off and take it in. By the way, it's exactly how I'm getting my hair cut today!

My hair is a lot like that, and here's how I style it:

First, bring a picture and go to your hairstylist. Make sure they put LOTS of layers in.

Second, you'll want to tease your hair to make it poofy and have more volume,

Third, use some type of hairspray to make the poofiness of your hair stay in place. :] Good luck!

It would depend on your hair type -- is it fine/thick, damaged, had a lot of chemical treatments, etc. Your hairstylist will be able to tell you how you need to treat your hair to maintain that style. Your best bet is to go to the best salon and take the picture with you and say thats the style your going for. It involves varied layers on top and keeping a one length at the bottom section. Also when you go to the salon ask the hairdresser to give you advice on how to maintain the look. I'm a little bit afraid that blonde might wash out your skin tone. Maybe you can do dark brown with blonde highlights? Or do your bottom layer blonde and the top layer dark brown or black?
